The GL650I’83 Silver Wing Interstate was sold in 1983 in one of two color schemes: Candy Wineberry Red with Bramble Red Metallic or Nimbus Gray Metallic with Achilles Black Metallic. The stripes on the red bike were red, but they were black on the gray bike. The “HONDA”, “SILVERWING”, and “INTERSTATE” emblems were gold. The bike had the modular seat, trunk, and saddlebag system like the 1981 GL500I.

The modular seat and trunk design had three configurations: A dual seat with no trunk; a solo seat with a small trunk, a solo seat with a backrest and a large trunk. The saddlebags were removable.
